The Washington Business Journal’s Book of Lists has identified M.C. Dean as a top Metro-area engineering and technology company. M.C. Dean debuted as both a top engineering firm (ranked No. 16) and a top government technology contractor (ranked No. 17). The company also maintained its spot at No. 20 on the list of largest private companies.

“These rankings reinforce our role as a government technology and engineering industry leader,” said Bill Dean, chief executive officer. “It is an honor to be recognized alongside so many Fortune 50 technology and engineering companies, including some of our most valued customers.”

Companies were ranked according to 2017 Metro-area employees, billings, and total revenue. M.C. Dean recorded almost 2,000 local employees and over $760 million in revenue to earn its place on each list. On the government technology contractor list, the company sits between The Boeing Co. (No. 16) and Microsoft (No. 18).

On the list of top engineering firms, M.C. Dean ranked among AECOM (No. 1), WSP (No. 7), and Kimley-Horn (No. 12). The company’s consistent spot as the No. 20 private company in the DC-Metro region places us on par with industry giants, such as Clark Group (No. 4) and HITT Contracting (No. 10).

The Book of Lists is an annually released compilation of the Washington Business Journal’s weekly rankings, which feature hundreds of the hottest local companies in each field. The Book of Lists print edition is distributed in December, with an annual Book of Lists Celebration hosted in January.
