/* Status: Loaded from Transient */

A significant winter storm is affecting multiple regions across the U.S. Because weather conditions, road safety, and operational requirements vary widely by location, communicate with your supervisor on the status of project/office site openings.

Safety First
Your safety is our top priority. Employees should use good judgment, take personal responsibility for their safety, and follow local guidance regarding road and weather conditions. No employee is expected to travel or work in conditions that are unsafe due to snow or ice.

Site- and Role-Specific Operations
Operational decisions will be made at the local level based on weather conditions, customer requirements, and site leadership direction.

  • Manufacturing facilities may continue operations where conditions allow, and leadership has confirmed it is safe to do so. Employees should report only if directed by management.
  • Capital project sites will operate only when conditions are safe and when customers or site leadership have confirmed work should proceed.
  • Critical facilities, infrastructure, and national security sites may require continued operations during severe weather. Only employees who are specifically assigned and directed to support these sites should report, and only if it is safe to do so.
  • Truck-based maintenance and field service work will be performed only when travel conditions are safe and when employees are explicitly directed to do so.

Pay and Time Reporting
Employees are paid for hours worked in accordance with company policy, applicable labor laws, and contractual requirements. Hourly employees who do not work due to weather-related site closures or unsafe travel conditions will not be paid for unworked time but may use their available PTO. Employees can find the inclement weather policy here.

Driver Safety

  • Vehicle Preparation: Ensure all vehicles are winter-ready. Check your tire tread, battery condition, windshield wipers, and fluid levels. Keep windows clear of snow and ice.
  • Emergency Kits: Equip vehicles with essential supplies, including blankets, non-perishable snacks, water, flashlight, first-aid kit, shovel, and sand or salt for traction.
  • Driving Caution: Reduce speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid sudden maneuvers. Use headlights even in daylight to improve visibility.
  • Road Conditions: Stay updated on weather reports and road conditions. Use apps and services for live traffic and storm alerts.
  • Plan for Delays: Account for longer travel times due to snow-covered roads and potential traffic disruptions. Notify your manager or supervisor of any delays.

Jobsite Safety

  • Site Inspections: Conduct a thorough inspection of all jobsites before work begins. Ensure that walkways and paths are clear of ice and snow to prevent slips and falls.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Ensure that all workers are wearing the appropriate cold-weather gear, including insulated gloves, waterproof boots, layered clothing, and reflective vests.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with all crews. Be prepared to HIT PAUSE in hazardous conditions, such as heavy snow or ice accumulation, to ensure worker safety. Escalate with your jobsite’s safety manager as needed.
  • Equipment Safety: Clear snow and ice from equipment and machinery. Ensure that all vehicles and machinery are properly adjusted to prevent malfunctions in freezing temperatures.
  • Emergency Response: Ensure that all personnel are familiar with emergency procedures in the event of an accident, including cold weather-related injuries such as frostbite and hypothermia.

Additional Recommendations

  • Unsafe Conditions: If conditions worsen or travel becomes unsafe, please report to your manager or supervisor. We will assess the situation and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor Local Updates: Stay informed about weather alerts and road closures. Make any necessary adjustments to your schedule as needed.
