The Walter E Washington Convention Center was unveiled as a coronavirus Alternate Care Facility by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser on May 1, 2020. During the press conference, Lieutenant General Todd Semonite shared his appreciation for M.C. Dean’s efforts naming our team along with partners Hensel Phelps and Southland Industries for a job well done.

The convention center’s location in downtown D.C. made it the ideal facility to serve the District and surrounding Virginia and Maryland counties. The 473,000-square-foot building is currently outfitted with 443 patient beds.

“Our modular delivery solutions and long-standing leadership in the region allowed our team to accelerate delivery for the U.S. Army Corps and the residents of the National Capital Region who will rely on this Alternate Care Facility throughout this pandemic,” said Mike Keatley, senior vice president for Electrical Systems.

As the electrical lead on the convention center, M.C. Dean supplemented the existing power system at the alternate care facility. M.C. Dean’s modular approach will streamline delivery and reduce onsite labor to allow for greater social distancing.
