​​May was a powerful month of action celebrating three major safety initiatives – Construction Safety WeekElectrical Safety Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month. M.C. Dean teams participated in various events, showcasing what it means to prioritize safety, well-being, and a culture of caring.

Southern Virginia sites celebrated Construction Safety Week with an event highlighting a 1GW+ delivery for a key customer.

Construction Safety Week
M.C. Dean joined the national conversation during Construction Safety Week by participating in daily stand-downs, onsite events, and social media campaigns centered on this year’s theme: All in Together“.  They highlighted M.C. Dean initiatives tied into nationwide topics, including Operational Risk Management (ORM), Hit Pause, Take Charge, and People in Mind.

Over 1,000 employees joined the industry-wide, “Our plan, your part,” competition, earning a top ten placement by committing to new safety topics daily.

Jordan Geibig, M.C. Dean regional safety manager, also shared insights into fostering a People in Mind culture at their central Virginia data center site.

Purple Line employees participated in demonstrations showcasing construction railway hazard management.

Electrical Safety Month
M.C. Dean led the charge in promoting electrical safe work practices, celebrating both their safety culture and 1GW+ power delivery for a key customer. Weekly spotlights in ORM meetings and on social media covered topics like creating electrically safe work environments, their qualified electrical worker program, and the hierarchy of controls.

Central and northern Virginia teams hosted arc flash survivor Gary Norland, who shared his story with thousands of employees during onsite events featuring lunch, giveaways, and commemorative gear.

Lastly, their Purple Line project team gathered for site-wide ORM meetings and employee appreciation events. These events took a different approach, featuring demos for construction railway hazards – including lockout/tagout on railways and CAD welding.

Northern Virginia employees showed up in the rain to support mental health awareness at the Alexandria NAMI walk.

Mental Health Awareness Month
M.C. Dean displayed full commitment to mental well-being as employees embraced their People in Mind culture. Northern Virginia team members took part in the Alexandria National Alliance on Mental Illness walk, supporting those impacted by mental illness. Georgia and northern Virginia employees pushed their limits in Savage Races – promoting resilience, teamwork, and mental strength. These grassroots efforts reflect M.C. Dean’s ongoing dedication to mental wellness across every level of the organization.
