About U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon
The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
Where Will Solar Decathlon 2011 Take Place?
The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 will be held at the National Mall's West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C., near the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.
When is the Next Solar Decathlon?
The next Solar Decathlon will be held in September and October,
• Assembly begins September 13
• Opening Ceremony kicks off the
event September 22
• Houses open to the public September 23 - October 2
• Disassembly ends October 6
